The House of Bread was founded in 1983 by Sister Dorothy Kammerer and Joe Bettman, who believed that no one deserves to go hungry, everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and everyone should be able to have a meal in a place where they feel welcome and appreciated.

We serve lunch seven days a week from 11 am to 1 pm, and we refer guests to housing, health and social services, and other resources.
