County awards House of Bread arts grant to boost local artists, raise awareness of hunger

Montgomery County Arts & Cultural District has awarded a Special Projects grant to the House of Bread for the second year in a row! The grant will allow us to collaborate once again with artists at K12 Gallery & TEJAS to create 500 commemorative bowls for our 2027 Empty Bowls event—raising awareness of local art and artists and of food insecurity. We’re one of 32 local organizations to receive this grant from the county this year, and we’re honored to be selected. “We give the handcrafted bowls to Empty Bowls attendees, who love browsing the collection looking for the perfect bowl to take home,” says House of Bread Executive Director Sherry Gale. “They’re beautiful pieces created by local ceramics experts, showcasing our region’s artistic talent while reminding us that no one’s bowl should ever go empty.” The 2027 Empty Bowls event date will be set later this year, so stay tuned!
